EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: A minimum of second class honours in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Pure and Industrial Chemistry


  • Surface sampling of reservoir fluids to ensure that representative samples are taken which include surface sampling of separator oil and gas, well head fluid, flow line fluid, fuel and flare gas, stock tank and export fluid, formation water, etc samples
  • Phase behaviour studies of reservoir fluids on bottom hole and separator samples which involves validation of surface and subsurface samples, restoration to ensure homogeneity of surface and subsurface samples, phase behaviour studies of reservoir fluids, constant-composition expansion test, differential liberation test, constant-volume depletion test, single and multi-stage separator test, atmospheric flash of sample from PVT cell to stock tank conditions to determine gas-oil ratio (GOR), formation volume factor, and shrinkage factor of the sample, hydrocarbon fluid compositional analysis using a gas chromatograph, oil-base mud contamination studies of reservoir fluid samples, live oil viscosity measurement, recombination of separator oil and gas samples to corrected field GOR or to a specified saturation pressure to produce reservoir fluid sample for reservoir condition analysis, transfer of reservoir fluid samples from samplers (MDT, RDT and RCI) to PVT piston cylinders, maintenance and calibration of DBR, Chandler and Vinci PVT cells and other laboratory equipment, water analysis
  • Operation, maintenance, and calibration of PVT equipment
  • Crude assay analysis: Reid vapour pressure measurement, basic sediments and water measurement, density, API and specific gravity measurements, sulphur content measurement, dead oil viscosity measurements
  • Flow assurance studies which include solid detection/solubility studies (asphaltene and wax precipitation onset studies, solvent titration studies, live oil titration studies, saturation pressure confirmation studies, chemical inhibition studies), asphaltene and wax content measurements, Saturates-Aromatics-Resins-Asphaltenes (SARA) group characterization of crude oil, cloud and pour point measurements
  • Water and hydrocarbon dew point measurement of natural gas
  • Detection and measurement of the quantity of contaminants in a hydrocarbon gas sample using a Drager instrument and tube
  • Ensured accuracy, validity and completeness of experimental results
  • Reporting of PVT and flow assurance analysis measurements
  • Preparation of validation and complete PVT report on reservoir fluid samples
  • PVT simulation of fluid properties using PVTi, PVT PRO, PVT RECORD and PVT sim
  • Analysis and interpretation of PVT data

Position: Slickline Operator /Engineer

Overall Purpose and objective:

To plan and execute Slickline operations as required on client installations both on & offshore as required and in line with Company and Client Company policies, procedures and systems, Statutory Regulations and good industry practice. To run Slickline operations, including but not limited to the supervision of Junior Slickline Operators, Slickline Assistant Operators & Helpers/Interns

Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Carry out all aspect of slickline operation in a safe and timeous manner
  • Lead crews in providing the complete range of slickline services under all operating conditions
  • To review well operations programmes & well files as required & to direct the team in the planning of the operation & preparation of equipment necessary to execute a successful well intervention operation.
  • Checking selected equipment prior to load out
  • Ensure operation of equipment is adhered to in accordance of the companies operating procedures
  • Delegate responsibilities and tasks within team as appropriate to team member’s competency.
  • To ensure that Slickline and multi-skilled personnel under your immediate control are sufficiently trained, qualified and experienced to carry out the work they are allocated.
  • Ensure that all Slickline and associated equipment that is to be mobilized is certified and “fit for purpose”.
  • To actively promote and comply with the Company and client HSE, operational and QA procedures and work instructions to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
  • Participate in tool box talks, risk assessments and safety meetings.
  • To complete company operational reports in accordance with quality procedures, and distribute the same in a manner consistent with the client’s demands.
  • Ensure that all personnel under your immediate control conduct their work in accordance with Company Client / Customer approved practices.
  • Attend regular safety briefings as arranged by the Company.
  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Senior Slickline Supervisor within the time frame specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfill these.

Competence in slickline operations:

  • BHP Test, Fishing, Swabbing, Zone Change
  • Wax Cutting, Sand Bailing, Well Integrity Test, Plug & Unplugging
  • Retrieval & Installation of Safety Valves (SCSSV), Gaslift Valves
  • Well completion

Familiar with Otis and Baker tools & accessories and completions

Required Skills:

  • Good knowledge & understanding of well services sector of the oil industry. Previous experience of Slickline operations in an operating role.
  • Good all round knowledge of all of the major well service equipment manufacturers’ equipment.
  • The practical ability to maintain the tools & equipment as required to carry out a Slickline operation on and offshore.
  • Ability to manage crews & assist with the control of logistical matters for & on behalf of both Intervention Services & clients as required.
  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal and listening.
  • Leadership skills – Interpersonal Understanding.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more well service core disciplines.
  • Ability to develop and energize people.

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years experience in Slickline
  • Experience working on SPDC projects will be an asset
  • Possession of valid IWCF will be an advantage
  •  Experience in running Gauge

 -   Master’s degree is an added advantage

  • Minimum of 1st Degree in any Engineering or related field
  • At least 2-10 years’ Experience
  • Not more than 40 years.
