Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Calibration Engineer to lead the installation, maintenance,
troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure that all client and in-house
Instruments used in sampling and testing are well calibrated in line with the ISO 17025 standard, while responding promptly
to customers’ corrective and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and corrective calibration of instruments in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, OEM
standards, and industry regulations.
Troubleshoot faulty equipment and ensure minimal downtime of laboratory and field instruments,
coordinate repairs, and supervise defective equipment returns.
Install, configure, and maintain environmental monitoring instruments (air quality, water quality, gas
detection, emission monitoring, flow meters, etc.).
Testing, maintaining, and modifying existing systems, designing and developing new control systems
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for analytical and monitoring equipment.
Analyze data, prepare, review, and update calibration procedures, records, reports, and documentation in
line with quality management systems.
Working collaboratively with operations engineers, purchasers, and other internal staff
Support field teams with instrument setup and validation during environmental sampling and monitoring
campaigns when required.
Provide advice and consultancy support.
Ensure compliance with HSE standards during all maintenance and calibration activities.
Liaise with OEMs, vendors, and regulatory bodies on instrument-related technical support, audits, and
certifications.
Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on equipment handling, calibration, and maintenance.
Analyze and ensure standardization of equipment on return.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Environmental
Engineering, or related field.
Masters will be an added advantage
Minimum of 5–8 years’ experience in instrumentation and calibration, preferably in oil & gas laboratory, or
industrial manufacturing sectors.
Hands-on experience with analytical and monitoring equipment (e.g., GC, AAS, ICP-MS, HPLC, TOC analyzer,
stack emission analyzers, flow meters, gas detectors).
Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 calibration standards and regulatory frameworks
Proficiency in interpreting instrument manuals, calibration certificates, and technical specifications.
Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, documentation, and report-writing abilities.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages and understanding of and ability to work with high-level
computer technology
In-depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices
Additional Skills & Certifications
Professional certification in instrumentation or calibration
Experience with automation systems, SCADA/DCS, and integration of monitoring instruments.
Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., NSE, COREN, ISA).
Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent critical thinking skills and a high level of numeracy
Flexibility and willingness to accept responsibility and make timely decisions
High level of attention to detail, excellent customer care skills and good commercial awareness
