POSITION: Core Analyst

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Core Analyst, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Core Processing. Handles clients cores for analyses; these cores need to be cleaned (remove drill mud and hydrocarbon if need be) and slabbed, following this, the slabbed cores might need to be photographed and core gamma logs obtained. You will take samples for further analysis, which will also involve drilling plugs (cylindrical samples) from the core slabbed. The work sometimes is physically strenuous as it involves lifting cores.
  • Sample preparation. Cylindrical samples taken from the core need to be prepared using Nickel/Tin wrap with different mesh and screen sizes, Soxhlet cleaning with Toluene and Methanol, Sample drying, CT-scanning, brine and oil preparation etc.
  • Basic Core Analysis. You will be involved in standard core analysis, such as water saturation using Dean-Stark and Retort oven methodology, determination of grain/ bulk density, lithology description, UV/WL determination, porosity, and permeability, etc.
  • Special Core Analysis. Have basic knowledge of SCAL.

 

Basic Skills in operating NMR equipment will be an added advantage.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:

To plan, develop and execute Drilling operations as required on land, on offshore platforms or on mobile drilling units. You’ll be involved from the initial well design to testing, completion and abandonment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors equipment and systems to ensure that the required performance is maintained
  • Ensure the effective working of the permit to work system
  • Develop data extractions or develop reports from requests or requirements stated by clients, and to investigate data related issues.
  • Track and appropriately escalate production issues & report periodically to group charged with monitoring uptime and efficiency of production application.
  • Analyze production issues to determine root cause and provides fix recommendations to the development team.
  • Support tasks to include alert monitoring for periodic jobs, opening trouble tickets, general escalation, client coordination, and vendor interactions.
  • Assist with planning and testing of application, configuration and database changes, and installation of upgrades and patches and update production support documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

  • Must have problem solving skills and be capable of breaking down complex situations to discover and resolve root causes, this applies to both technical issues and process issues.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and writing with the ability to discuss issues with users.
  • Understanding of database concepts.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in Offshore Maintenance, Production And Support Specialist
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.

  • Install and configure computer systems and applications within the company
  • Respond to customer inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challenges
  • Actively update, maintain and monitor all aspects of computer networks
  • Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions
  • Attend in-person meetings with clients to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose hardware problems
  • Maintain a working log detailed all required system updates, as well as the date of completion
